For Parents

Our job is to keep your child safe and your time together positive

This page explains what happens at a supervised visit or monitored exchange, in plain language, so there are no surprises.

Before Your First Visit

Each parent prepares separately. Parents are never scheduled together.

  • Complete a separate intake with our staff.
  • Bring photo ID and a copy of every current court order.
  • Share your child's allergies and medications.
  • Sign the service agreement and review the parent guidelines.

Arrival and Departure

The schedule is built so that parents never meet.

  • You will be given your own arrival time and arrival point.
  • Do not arrive early. If you arrive early, wait in your vehicle away from the entrance.
  • Parents never meet in the parking area, waiting room, or hallway.
  • The visiting parent leaves at least 15 minutes after the other parent.

During the Visit

The time is for your child. Keep the focus on them.

  • Encouraged: play, read together, praise, and talk about school and interests.
  • Not allowed: discussing the court case or the other parent.
  • Not allowed: whispering or speaking where the monitor cannot hear.
  • Not allowed: photos or recordings without prior approval.
  • Not allowed: physical discipline or unapproved visitors.

Weapons, Alcohol, and Drugs

Check-in screening applies to every parent at every session.

  • No weapons of any kind, including in your vehicle on site.
  • Do not attend under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • If screening raises a concern, the session will not proceed and the visit will be documented as not held.

Cancellations

Cancellations go through SafeHarbour Visit only.

  • Cancel at least 24 hours in advance by phone or email to our office.
  • Do not cancel through the other parent, or through your child.
  • More than 15 minutes late counts as a no-show.
  • Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice and no-shows are charged as described in the fee schedule.
